Last report they were up and now they're down. Vintage towel sales are soooo unpredictable! WHIMSICALS have gone to the dogs....and cows! Two Elsie towels (plus an apron!) in this report as well as plenty of pink poodles and scotty dogs. Plus an interesting Wilendur that we don't see that often. ETHNICS are holding steady with strong sales in Black Americana. FRUITS & FLORALS and DESIGNERS have really taken a hit and haved dropped off considerably. Though don't miss a groovy set of 6 Peynet towels. On the upswing are SOUVENIRS - from California to the Gulf Stream waters, to Sweden, and even into the London Underground!. EMBROIDERY/HANDWORK didn't drop a stitch with some great DOW sales: a little girl set that's adorable and a Very Valuable V for Victory, as well as the usual bunnies, squirrels, etc! No surprise, but the big story is CHRISTMAS. Lots of strong sales in this category and surely there are more to come in the coming weeks. Plenty of jolly Santas, sparkling trees, and a pair of Rudolph towels that flew over the rooftops! The calendar may say November, but buyers say December! In ODDS & ENDS, check out these neat DOW towels hand made by Viola Marlo and marketed as the artwork that they truly are. Neat story and great positioning make these auctions worth a glance.
